How about the br-thr kinda sound when you expel air through your mouth while keeping your jaws closed and lips loose? If ya know what I mean.

Also, despite Devnagari covering consonants more successfully than English, there's always the 'pen'-'pain' thing which you cannot differentiate between when written in Hindi. There's only one way to write both words.
I've always wondered the same about Mandarin. There are tons of new words being invented everyday (mostly in English O.o), how do they ever express those?! And how about words like 'doordarshan' in Hindi, how did they come up with that? Who decided it was the right word for it? It's a relatively new invention, compared to the invention of the language.

Re: Being a global communicator

That seems like an awesome thing to work on.
So does pyscholinguistics have to do with learning language, understanding language, or understanding how people listen to/comprehend language? That observation made the last seem most special to me - that people instinctively *hear* the same things differently. I was also thinking about the construction of languages, on that joke by Russell Peters about !Xobile, if you've heard that one. Would love to meet up some time (though I'm not into beer and such, yet. :P).

Re: Titled: Rant

Er.

I didn't think this would be published under my name. Can you please read these comments and then delete them?

It looks very pretty to me, but it seems rather similar to all the 'modern' i.e. relatively recent variations of the ampersand. They have broken apart from the structure which generally has the visible 't', but I would believe that is because they weren't trying to be etymologically coherent. They were trying to make the existing variation which looks more like a mirror reflection of a cursive 'S', pretty. Would you differ in your opinion or thoughts?

Re: The Evolution of the Ampersand

tell more about the Bickham script - it's radically different.

Re: My Map — II

Does a line have breadth? I've won it multiple times too. The thing is, I can't say I'll win for sure. I want to know how to always win. It's somewhat easy to guess the cat's move. But I can't always win (as I've already stated). I want to know how to do that. (go to the gamedesign.jp site, and keep on playing. And tell me if you're some awesome champ at it. :)

Re: Chat Noir — A game

That wasn't too hard: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/74874...

Re: Nature by Numbers

ahhh...
The Good Ole Golden Ratio :)
Awesome Video Though.
I'm eager to know what s/w he used to make it.

Re: Major Joke: That kid makes up questions for himself, and even those he can’t solve

How do IIT questions make you think about integration? :O

Re: Major Joke: That kid makes up questions for himself, and even those he can’t solve

And I was anyways looking forward to that! o.O

Re: Major Joke: That kid makes up questions for himself, and even those he can’t solve

Mathematicians are such a despondent lot... if it's not an apology, it's a lament...

But seriously, amen. The full realization, though, comes only with integration. And then IIT questions. Which make you *think* about *integration*. Bit of a shocker the first time.

Re: Weird Al — You’re Pitiful

Nice. :D This one is _awesome_.
